This workshop is recommended for anyone interested in adding to their environmental regulations knowledge base, those starting out in the world of regulatory permitting, or anyone who may have jumped into permitting before developing a full understanding of the backbone behind it all.

WORKSHOP OBJECTIVES:

Understand and differentiate between what is covered under the following California (SWRCB/RWQCB and CDFW) codes and policy: 
  1. The Porter-Cologne Water Quality Control Act 
  2. State Policy for Water Quality Control: State Wetland Definition and Procedures for Discharges of Dredged or Fill Material to Waters of the State (“The Procedures”)
  3. California Fish and Game Code §1600-1616
Become familiar with guidance and standards associated with the SWRCB/RWQCB and CDFW regulatory authorities, including an overview of the SWRCB/RWQCB’s authority under Section 401 of the federal CWA.
Identify when a project might need authorization under the regulations covered during the workshop.
